Committee Responsibilities:

The Member Career Services Committee recommends effective methods for career development for NACADA members, which may include job postings on the web site, employer/employee contacts at conferences, and workshops to assist members with employment searches.

Goals (2006-2008):

  1. Appoint committee members that represent each of the 10 NACADA regions.
  2. Write the Career Services Corner for each issue of Academic Advising Today to answer career-related questions of NACADA members.
  3. Add a sample CV and cover letter to the NACADA member Career Services website.
  4. Help facilitate career-related services for NACADA members. In particular, encourage presentations at the national and regional conferences on career-related topics.

Objectives:

  1. Provide members the opportunity to have their career-related questions answered in the new career services advice column in the NACADA newsletter.
  2. Provide sample resumes/CVs and/or cover letters on the NACADA website; provide links to pertinent career-related web sites.
  3. Reserve a Professional Development Room at the National Conference devoted to career services resources. Provide resume/CV and cover letter critiquing service and facilitate interviews for open positions at the National Conference.
  4. Monitor and track membership use of the Career Services website.
  5. Carefully coordinate initiatives with the Professional Development Task Force.
