Re: Spring Newsletter and Other Items of Interest

Dear Commission Members:

At our commission meeting in October, one of the goals we identified for the Advising Adult Learners Commission was to re-establish the electronic newsletter. While this will be a huge job for one person to edit, design and distribute, it will be doable if we can all work together. If you are interested in helping to produce the newsletter, please let me know by e-mail at tjfarr@ilstu.edu.

We are now soliciting articles, information, best practices from our members, development of a list of experts, etc. to include in the newsletter. I would like to have this newsletter circulated among the membership by the first of April. Please let me know soon if you are willing and able to contribute a short article or information we should include.

On another note, please be sure to attend your local or regional conference this spring. While the national conference is wonderful, regional and state conferences also provide ample networking and professional development opportunities at often a fraction of the cost and time. Please visit www.nacada.ksu.edu/Events/Conferences/Regional/upcoming.htm for information about the conference in your area.

In addition, proposals for the 30th Annual Conference on Academic Advising are due February 10th. Please consider submitting a proposal. There are so many wonderful programs and very important work being done with adult learners that we need to let people know what we are doing!
