To: Two-Year Colleges Commission Members
From: Dianne Castor, Chair
Date:
November 23, 2003
I
know this is a little late in coming; however, I would like to take
this opportunity to greet you as the NACADA Two-Year Colleges Commission
Chair. I would like to make myself available to you to assist in
any way that I can. Please let me know how I can assist you and
how the Two-Year Colleges Commission can assist you.
I
hope that our Commission will become more active and that we are
able to recruit more members for our Commission. Let me know topics
of concern that you may have. Also, let me know how you think we
can recruit more members for our Commission. I feel the best way
is word of mouth and you are the mouth, so please talk up our Commission
and encourage everyone that you know who has an interest in 2 YR
colleges to join us.
I
would also like to encourage you to consider presenting at the state,
regional, and national levels. I know you are doing great things
on your campus---so let us hear about it. You may think that you
can't it do; however, I am confident that you can. Start at the
state level and then progress to the higher levels to gain confidence.
(Of course, you can begin at any level.) Please let me know if you
present at any level so that I can make everyone aware of your sessions.
If you don't want to do a presentation, why not consider a round
table and discuss
issues that are pertinent to 2YR Colleges. Round tables are easy
and I have gained a
great deal of knowledge from others during round table discussions.
I
also need liaisons from each region to work with me. Liaisons help
to keep the Commission Chair abreast of what is happening in your
regions and to assist with reading proposals for the national conference.
If you are interested in serving in this capacity, please let me
know. My e-mail and snail mail addresses are at the bottom of this
e-mail as well as my telephone numbers. Let me hear from you. Share
the good and the bad things that are going on with your campuses.
Hope
you have a great Thanksgiving!!!
Dianne
