TO: Engineering and Science Advising Commission Members
FROM: Peg Steele, Commission Chair

Members of the E&S Advising Commission:

It was great seeing so many of you at the annual conference in Indy. There were many familiar faces are well as new faces. The steering committee members and I look forward to working with all of you in the next two years.

There are several issues that we should turn our attention to as a commission.  One is the Call for Proposals for the 2007 annual conference in Baltimore. You can find information on this topic in your local mailbox or at the NACADA conference web site. And while you are at it, feel free to consider a proposal for your local, state, or regional conference. All of these opportunities are listed on the NACADA web site (direct links provided above).

You might be asking about ideas for a proposal. If you take a look at the meeting minutes from October, you will see that our members identified several hot topics and issues that seem to be critical for our members. These minutes can be located at the bottom of the page at https://www.nacada.ksu.edu/cgi-bin/leaderreports/webreport.pl?id=22 on our commission web site. I encourage you to ponder some of these issues & consult with others on your campus or with the commission membership on ideas for a proposal. As I chat with other advisors on our campus, I learn that we can definitely come up with some good ideas that will be appreciated by many at the various conferences.

This message is being sent to you via e-mail from the NACADA Executive Office. It is the hope of the commission members that there will be more subscribers to the listserve so that we can share information & stimulate dialogue amongst us.  If you need to learn more about becoming a subscriber, please link to www.nacada.ksu.edu/Commissions/C21/listserve.htm and follow the appropriate instructions. Network etiquette (netiquette) is also provided on the NACADA web site that will help and guide in our discussions.

Feel free to respond to me at peg@cse.ohio-state.edu should you have comments or concerns. The names and contact information for all steering committee members are available on the commission "Leadership" web page. We welcome your thoughts & discussions.

Wishing you a happy & safe holiday season.

Peg Steele, Chair
