Platform Statement:
As chair of NACADA's Technology in Advising Commission, I would
like to continue the excellent leadership efforts of our two previous
chairs, Chuck Haberle and Mike Leonard. I would work to
continue initiatives they have begun as well as establish new
mechanisms for members to learn about and embrace technology in
advising for their campuses. I would examine the results of the
recent national technology survey to determine what activities
would be useful in meeting member needs. I am open to ideas from
members for new activities and will bring a great deal of energy
to the position. I believe technology enhances the human
adviser-advisee relationship and does not replace it. As chair,
I would welcome the opportunity to serve NACADA members in learning
increasingly new ways to apply technology. Members can use
technology to improve their advising operations but, most importantly,
they can use it to enhance their relationships with students.
