Platform Statement:

I have twenty plus years of experience working with diverse populations in an urban campus that serves 40,000 students--community college, baccalaureate, and graduate degree granting institutions. I have worked with minority domestic and international students and faculty. During these years, I have done numerous presentations and workshops on issues of diversity, received training and chaired several committees.

I have discussed the issues of diversity with the Council and the Board and believe that I have a very strong sense of the direction that we, as an organizqation, need to take in order to become diverse in all areas (ethnicity, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation,as well as institutional type, size, conference presentations, employment, representation within the leadership, and faculty, etc.).

My goals are in line with the goals of the committee — conducting focus groups to get feedback from the membership; developing a white paper on diversity in the association; and working with the Council to develop an Emerging Leaders Program.

My role as chair of the committee is to provide direction and encouragement, so the committee and all members of NACADA can do what they truly desire — become an organization that truly welcomes and honors diversity.
