Platform Statement:

It is an honor to be nominated for Region 1 Chairperson. I've had the great opportunity to work with many exceptional people in Region 1, and would feel privileged to work in the role of Region Chair. It is my belief, as an advisor for approximately 12 years, that academic advising provides a vital contribution to higher education and is a crucial part of the educational endeavor on our campuses.

My goals as Region 1 Chair would be to:

  1. identify members' needs and develop ways to address them in order to promote quality academic advising and support for academic advisors.
  2. advance the profession of academic advising by working to better articulate its role and mission.
  3. encourage and support national efforts to develop academic advising position papers that could be used by advisors on all of our campuses.
  4. reach out to advisors in Region 1 who are not yet involved in or aware of NACADA.
  5. support quality professional development experiences via regional conferences and state/province half-day or one-day workshops for members--professional, faculty and graduate student advisors, and administrators.

Thank you for your consideration.
