Platform
Statement:
- Highlight
your involvement in this unit that will help you in leading this
unit. What roles have you played in this unit thus far?
I
have not participated in this Commission thus far. For more than
two decades, however, I have administered advising programs. As
an advisor and advising administrator, I am fully aware of the
significance of advising in the lives of students, faculty, staff
and alumni. As we move into the 21st century where globalization
is and will continue to be a central focus of international higher
education, my central focus will be to help NACADA help advisors
prepare for our current world and our world to come.
- What
do you believe are the most important goals and initiatives for
this unit in meeting the strategic plan for both the unit and
the Association?
To
help NACADA prepare advisors for the academic and social challenges
of an ever globalizing world community.
-
Why are you interested in serving in this leadership position
or what influenced you to run for this leadership position?
Advising
is centrally important to the lives of our students. This Commission
can help advisors, students, alumni and families better prepare
for a vastly new and different 21st century.
- Provide
any additional comments or information regarding your past experiences
and qualifications that relate to your candidacy for this leadership
position.
Since
1975 my advising experience has embraced every aspect of the college
and university advising experience. My understanding of academic
advising is comprehensive. My experiences includes the theoretical,
conceptual and the pragmatic. What is more, in a world firmly
rooted in a global economy, by experience includes diversity,
multiculturalism and pluralism. For the aforementioned reasons
and many others, I firmly believe my experience and qualifications
relate to my candidacy for this leadership position.
