Statement:
-
Highlight your previous involvement within this unit that will
help you in leading this unit. What roles have you played within
this particular unit as a member thus far?
I
have been involved with the Liberal Arts Advisors Interest Group/Commission
since 2001. I have presented at several NACADA regional and national
conferences on topics concerning the liberal arts and how academic
advisors can assist in preparing their students for their futures.
I co-authored the commission proposal for the NACADA Liberal Arts
Advisors Commission.
-
What do you believe are the most important goals and initiatives
for this unit in meeting the strategic plan for both the unit
and the Association?
I believe liberal arts academic advisors must continue to find
and assist their students in seeing the relevance of the liberal
arts degree for an increasingly diverse world. Liberal arts advisors
have many concerns about how to demonstrate the appropriateness
of their fields of study. I believe continuing to strengthen our
list serve and challenging our academic advising peers to present
on topics of interest to the field must be goals for the immediate
future of our commission.
- Why are
you interested in serving in this leadership position or what
influenced you to run for this leadership position?
I am running for this position because of my continued interest
in and commitment to the liberal arts and advising students for
the 21st century.
-
Provide any additional comments or information (either personal
or leadership-related) that you want potential voters to know
about you that is not covered elsewhere in your platform information.
