Statement:
Highlight
your previous involvement within this unit that will help
you in leading this unit. What roles have you played within
this particular unit as a member thus far? |
Although I have not had any previous involvement within the unit,
I have been advising graduate students at Southern New Hampshire
University for 6 years. During the 6 years, I have had the opportunity
to work with both domestic and international students and feel that
this global experience will bring a great deal to the unit.
What do you believe are the most important goals and initiatives
for this unit in meeting the strategic plan for both the unit and
the Association ?
I
believe that often advising conversations, and presentations are
focused on traditional undergraduate day students. I believe more
focus needs to be on the non-traditional student. I realize that
not all schools have graduate programs, but those schools that do
need to be able to have a voice and share experiences and advising
strategies with the rest of the organization.
Why are you interested in serving in this leadership position or
what influenced you to run for this leadership position?
I
love advising graduate students. I have had the opportunity to work
with students from many different cultures and many different backgrounds.
Based on these experiences, I feel that I have a lot to offer the
Advising Graduate and Professional Students Commission.
Provide any additional comments or information (either
personal or leadership-related)
that you want potential voters to know about you that is not covered
elsewhere in your platform information.
Thank
you for your consideration.
