Statement:
Highlight
your previous involvement within this unit that will help
you in leading this unit. What roles have you played within
this particular unit as a member thus far? |
I
have attended the last three Region VII conferences and volunteered
this past year with proposals and registration. I also presented
at the last two Region conferences. Regional connections and events
are important ways for advisors to get involved in NACADA on a local
level and I hope to help encourage greater involvement in and publicity
of Region VII activities.
What do you believe are the most important goals and initiatives
for this unit in meeting the strategic plan for both the unit and
the Association?
Academic
advising and NACADA have grown tremendously in size and scope over
this past decade. I believe it is imperative that we work together
to continue this growth while meeting the needs of our students.
The economy is dictating that we all cut back – but we need
to grow and develop while combining our resources and strengths.
Region VII is a large, strong region and we can and will help each
other save time, money and resources while becoming better Academic
Advisors.
Why are you interested in serving in this leadership position or
what influenced you to run for this leadership position?
I
am a strong believer in NACADA. I have grown as an advisor and as
a person because of my involvement with this organization and I
am hopeful that I could help others make a similar journey. As advisors
we benefit from working together, learning from each other, and
developing relationships across campus and around the country. I
am excited about the possibility of growing my personal network
of friends and to help others begin their own network of NACADA
connections.
Provide any additional comments or information (either
personal or leadership-related)
that you want potential voters to know about you that is not covered
elsewhere in your platform information.
