9, 2004, is the deadline to submit a proposal to present in
Cincinnati!
We
invite you to submit a proposal whether you are a novice or
experienced presenter. Advisors, administrators, faculty,
counselors, career development specialists, researchers, graduate
students-we want to hear from you. Click http://www.nacada.ksu.edu/NationalConf/2004/index.htm.

Stress Management in the advising
workplace. Do you feel overworked and unappreciated?
Are you FED UP? If you answered "yes" to these questions,
you could be the victim of too much stress.
Beatrice Logan and Annie Turman, Georgia State University, suggest
ways advisors can deal with stress to Get Better, Not Bitter!
Logan and Turman's overview of the issues surrounding stress
in the advising workplace contains suggestions from their "Best
of Region" presentation.
While in the Clearinghouse, check out the resources
for dealing with workplace stress (http://www.nacada.ksu.edu/Clearinghouse/AdvisingIssues/stress_management.htm)
and the inspirational advising links (http://www.nacada.ksu.edu/Clearinghouse/Links/Inspirational.htm)
including Jerry O'Connor's "What
you are really thinking..." (http://www.nacada.ksu.edu/Clearinghouse/Links/what_you_are_thinking.htm).
This semester, Kansas State University
is offering two courses for the on-line Graduate Certificate in
Academic Advising - Foundations in Academic Advising (EDCEP 835)
and Multicultural Counseling and Advising (EDCEP 951). Both courses
began on January 22, 2004, but you can still apply and register
for either or both courses anytime before March 15, 2004. All
course work must be completed by the end of Spring term (May 2004)
regardless of start date.

on the program, application procedures, and registration, visit:

Are you doing a presentation for your NACADA
Regional Conference this Spring? Consider writing your presentation
as an article for the NACADA Journal. Check the Publication
Schedule for deadline dates and the new guidelines for research
and toolbox articles on the NACADA Journal Web site at
http://www.nacada.ksu.edu/Journal/journal_guidelines.htm.
Anticipating some "quiet time"
in February? Check out the books available for review in the
NACADA Journal at http://www.nacada.ksu.edu/Journal/br_overview.htm.
