THE SECOND INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

April 16-18, 2008


COSPONSORS:

The 2007 International Conference on Personal Tutoring and Academic Advising was held in May in Edinburgh, Scotland.  An exciting program brought NACADA members from the US, Canada, and Kuwait together with colleagues from across the UK for a day of very beneficial networking and sharing of information.

In 2008, the International Event will be held in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, US, in conjunction with the NACADA Mid-Atlantic Region II conference.  For information on this event go to the Region II Conference page.

The 2007 past conference information:

Description:

This international conference on Personal Tutoring and Academic Advising is being co-sponsored by the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA) and the Higher Education Academy in the United Kingdom in conjunction with the London College of Communication and Southampton Solent and Westminster universities. This year's conference will take place at the John McIntyre Centre at the University of Edinburgh and participants are being invited to submit ideas for posters and workshops as well as papers. Conference topics will range from evidence informed practice to providing resources for personal tutoring/academic advising and NACADA's involvement will ensure an international perspective.

Target Audience:

  • Academic staff engaged in Personal Tutoring/Academic Advising both in the UK & the US
  • Policy Makers
  • Senior Administrators in Higher Education
  • Student Support & Advising Staff

Purpose of the event:

  • An opportunity to network and share practice around key issues in Personal Tutoring/Academic Advising with national & international delegates
  • An opportunity to explore different understandings of Personal Tutoring/Academic Advising for students in Higher Education
  • An opportunity to consider different practices for Personal Tutoring/Academic Advising within the changing climate of Higher Education
