about research, theory, or practice in the advising profession,

To
the Editor
Letters
to the Editor are an opportunity for members to submit a brief
report of a study or to offer opinions on topics published in
the Journal or related to academic advising in general.
Articles
Articles
address the research, theory, or practice of academic advising.
Research articles use one of the standard quantitative or qualitative
research approaches such as descriptive, experimental, historical,
or ethnographical. Theory articles tend to explain how something
works by describing a theoretical framework, construct, paradigm,
analogy, or story. Practice articles discuss a specific institutional
practice or issue that can be generalized to academic advising
at other institutions. Practice articles should relate to a body
of research literature, demonstrate a theory in action, and/or
contain an evaluation/assessment component.
Book
Reviews
NACADA
members review recent books in fields related to academic advising. Reviews
provide brief content synopses, address implications for practice,
and highlight how the book can increase advisors' knowledge and
skills. NACADA members may request
to review a book once each academic year. Books
available for review and suggestions for writing
reviews are available on this site. When the Journal Editors
determine that a book may make a significant contribution to the
field of academic advising, the Editors feature invited reviews
of the book. In these cases, Editors select reviewers who can
bring a variety of perspectives to the examination of the featured
book.
Upon
acceptance, NACADA Journal Book Reviews will be posted on the
Journal's Web site and referenced in the next Journal issue. Thus
NACADA members will be able to have timely access to colleague's
reviews of new books in the field.
