Choosing,
Accepting and Requesting a Book for review
Choosing
a book: Simply said, you should choose a book that interests
you from the list provided and then read it. Choose a book that
is available for review. Remember
if you choose a book that you feel strongly about, then reading
it for review shouldn't be a chore. If you receive a book you
just can't "get into" return it to the Executive Office
as soon as possible.
If
you would like to review a book not currently listed, please contact
Marsha Miller, NACADA Book Review Editor, at bookrev@ksu.edu
for review authorization. Realize that some titles not on
the list are already with reviewers. In other cases review
copies of books have not been provided by publishers; in these cases
potential reviewers will need to acquire their own copy of the book.
Accepting a book: By accepting
a book reviewers agree to the following policy:
- A book
is provided, upon request, to NACADA members to review for the
Journal.
- The book
is provided free and remains as property of the reviewer when
the review is accepted for publication.
- A review
prepared according to the book review
guidelines is expected to be submitted to the NACADA Book
Review Editor within three months. If this time frame cannot
be met, the reviewer has three options:
- negotiate a deadline extension
with the Editor
- return the book
- pay replacement costs for the book
plus a $10 handling charge.
Requesting
a book: NACADA members wishing to review a book should send
their requests via e-mail to: the NACADA Book Review Editor, at
bookrev@ksu.edu.
Books are sent via UPS so you will need to provide a street address,
building and room number (where applicable) where you would like
the book sent. If you would like to review a book not currently
listed, contact the NACADA Book Review Editor. Please note that
members may review one book per academic year.
