BOARD OF DIRECTORS — The NACADA Board of
Directors is the official governing body of the Association, and
provides direction for the Association by developing and maintaining
the Association's strategic plan.
PRESIDENT
— The President shall be the chief executive officer of the
corporation with such general executive powers and duties of supervision
and management as are usually vested in the office of the chief
executive officer of a corporation, and the President shall carry
into effect all directions and resolutions of the board. The President
shall preside at all meetings of the members and directors. The
President shall be ex officio a member without vote on all committees,
unless the Board otherwise provides.
VICE
PRESIDENT — The Vice President shall, in the absence,
disability, or inability to act of the President, perform all duties
and exercise all powers of the President. The Vice President shall
convene the NACADA Council, perform the duties customary to this
office and such additional duties as directed by the President or
Board of Directors. The Vice President serves as a liaison to the
Council to assure that the Board has full benefit of the discussions/issues
as discussed by the Council and that the Council has the benefit
of knowing the priorities of the Board of Directors.
Major
Leadership Responsibilities—Board of Directors:
- Provides direction for the Association
by developing and maintaining the Association's strategic plan
and assuring that finances are adequate to sustain all initiatives.
- Reviews Council recommendations and
approves for implementation those that are within the Association's
resources and consistent with the Strategic Plan of the Association.
- Sets policies and procedures for the
association.
- Appoint replacements in the case of
untimely vacancies.
Meetings
to attend:
- Mid-Year
Board of Directors meeting in the spring
- Fall Board
of Directors meetings at the NACADA Annual
Conference
- Teleconferences
as scheduled by the NACADA President
Budgets
to prepare and monitor:
- Reviews
and approves the annual operating budget submitted by the Finance
Committee.
- Oversees
the overall expenditure and investment of Association funds.
Written
reports/communications:
- Communications
with members—Announcements are sent electronically to members
as needed by the Executive Office on behalf of the President or
Board of Directors.
- Reviews reports
submitted by the Council and Division Units to ensure the goals
and activities planned are in relation to the NACADA strategic
goals.
- Academic
Advising Today e-publication — (President) submits
short articles on Association news and topics of interest to the
general membership.
Resources
and Support:
- Your
institution gives approval and provides support to your commitment
to this position, including your registration fees and all expenses
for the Annual Conference.

NACADA provides limited funds towards participation in the annual
fall leadership meetings and provides reimbursements for spring
meeting expenses.
- The
Executive Office provides staff assistance for web updates, communications
to members, financial management, membership information and statistics,
conference calls, etc.
