Position Description
The Belk College of Business at UNC Charlotte is seeking a Director of the Student Center for Professional Development (SCPD). The Director is responsible for developing the curriculum and programming for the SCPD including courses, experiences, and activities for freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors in the College.

Duties
The Director will develop, implement and administer University and Belk College of Business policies, processes and procedures for career counseling and professional development. This person will work with the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Programs, the Director of Undergraduate Advising, Academic Advisors, Assistant Director/Business Career Advisor in the University Career Center, department chairs and other office directors to assist with the development and success of undergraduate students. The Director is also responsible for all programs, publications, events, and decisions made on behalf of the Center. The Director of the SCPD reports to the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Programs.

Teaching responsibilities include the BUSN 1101 - Introduction to Business & Professional Development course. The Director will also manage the initial $250,000 Belk Foundation Grant and the $50,000 endowment for program and services including career assessment inventories, guest speakers, business etiquette events, and other professional development activities. This person will monitor and assess the effectiveness of the SCPD.

Required Qualifications
A master's degree is required, preferably an MBA or a business-related discipline, and 5-7 years of higher education experience in administration, career counseling, student development, or academic advising.

Preferred Qualifications
University administration, teaching experience, and program assessment is preferred. Experience with career assessment tools, knowledge of the job search process, and coordination of large and small special events is strongly recommended.

Director of Academic Advising and Assessment

Position Description
Henderson Community College is seeking applicants for a Director of Academic Advising and Assessment position to oversee the development and implementation of all academic activities and advising services provided in the Start Center, a one-stop entry point for all students. In addition, the Director will coordinate testing services and HCC's First-Year Experience Program. The Director of Academic Advising and Assessment will be full-time, working on a twelve-month basis and reporting to the Dean of Academic Affairs.

Duties
1.Manages and leads the Start Center including personnel, budget and strategic planning.

Position Description
The Academic Advising & Planning Center is charged with assisting undergraduate students with all aspects of academic planning through mandatory and voluntary advising sessions. We serve first-year students, transfer students, and undecided students. The Academic Advisor is responsible for advising approximately 300-400 students, taking a holistic approach to working with students to explore their interests, discuss course options, consider majors, plan for the future, and address any academic concerns.

Duties
Provides accurate and timely academic advising to approximately 300-400 first-year students, transfer students, and undecided students, including special populations (e.g., academically at-risk students, provisional students, students with physical and/or learning disabilities, students on academic warning or probation, regular or conditionally readmitted students, and Summer First Students). Works with students to explore their interests, discuss course options, consider majors, plan for the future, and address any academic concerns. Explains degree requirements (including the general education curriculum), institutional policies and procedures, student support services, and opportunities for co-curricular activities. Refers advisees to other campus resources as appropriate. Monitors student progress toward accomplishing goals. Documents advising sessions and maintains academic records in compliance with College of Charleston policies and procedures and FERPA regulations.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and at least three years of professional work experience with students in academic support services or related field in higher education. Master's degree preferred. Candidates with an equivalent combination of experience and/or education are encouraged to apply.

Must be able to demonstrate an understanding of student development at a liberal arts & sciences college. Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills are required. Familiarity of widely-used software is required; experience using Banner and DegreeWorks is preferred.

Position Description
The One Stop Student Services Unit is one of several central student services units reporting to the Assistant Provost of Enrollment Services. The One Stop provides end to end service in records, financial aid, student accounts, and other auxiliary services. The Director is expected to be a visionary leader, effective manager, and committed to improving student services. The Director manages the physical One Stop customer service unit and provides oversight for the One Stop website. In addition to managing personnel schedules and operations of these units, the primary responsibilities of this position include continuous, successful execution of the following: training support to the coordinator positions, provide leadership by coaching and mentoring staff, updating functions and processes to continuously improve the customer service experience, research and increase knowledge about best practices in higher education customer service models and adapt new ideas from industry models such as Apple or Verizon Wireless.

Duties
* Manage and supervise the unit in such a way that the unit runs smoothly

and works well with Financial Aid, Registrar, Bursar and other campus constituents.
* Provide general direction for staff activities.
* Delegate and coordinate staff activities.
* Plan priorities and work schedules.
* Maintain an innovative and effective customer service-training program for
new staff in the One Stop Service Centers. Implement any new concepts that
would enhance customer service in the One Stops.
* Continue to develop the One Stop management staff and assist them in
becoming better managers.
* Facilitate communication meetings with representatives from the Bursar's
Office, Financial Aid and the Registrar's Office.
* Meet regularly with the units to discuss current issues.
* Meet regularly with Assistant Provost Of Enrollment Services to discuss
priorities, new developments, problems, or other issues that need to be
resolved.
* Show case the University's One Stop customer service model for visitors and
at regional and national conferences External Communications:
* This unit handles web site content research, writing and editing. The unit is
also responsible for all internal and external communication devices such as
brochures and newspaper articles in collaboration with Media Relations.
* Advocate for the web registration process to be more efficient and user-
friendly.
* Manage the One Stop website design, content, and brand. Partner with the
Media Relations development team to ensure that the One Stop website
follows the One Stop design guidelines, has accurate information, and is user
friendly.
* Cross-train staff in One Stop Student Service Center to have a truly
combined, seamless setting.
* Review and make decisions on student/client appeals in a timely manner.
* Consult with colleges, departments, faculty and other University personnel as
required to plan programs and operations and run the unit.
* Model appropriate student/client behavior and insist that staff follow example.
* Continue planning for more self-registration and technology that meets
changing student needs.
* Successfully plan services so that deadlines and commitments can be
achieved.
* Plan and supervise orientation, training, and assessment of employees.
* Work with units to develop quality improvement methods - what tasks,
services, etc. can be improved
* Benchmark/survey students and internal customers in order to assess levels
of customer service and to gather feedback about ideas for improvement.
Surveys should be administered to students who had recent contact with One
Stop staff, student veterans, internal customers (collegiate representatives)
and auxiliary units, and students who are non-degree seeking but register for
graduate credit.
* Work closely with Student Life for participation in Orientation and Welcome
Week.
* Function as an expert or resource person in area(s) of expertise.
* Serve on committees and task forces as a representative of the office.
* Enhance the professional development of staff/self through participation in
conferences and workshops.
* Cooperatively work with central administrators in promptly resolving student,
staff, and faculty complaints.
* Meet periodically with colleges and other administrative units to discuss
services.
* Participate in and actively present at national and regional committees -
AACRAO, NACUBO, and their regional organization.
* Monitor FERPA policies and ascertain compliance.
* Maintain Financial Operational Processes for documentation. Manage Cash
Operations:
* Conduct petty cash counts and surprise audits. Make recommendations on
security issues and cash policies.
* Supervise all posting, updating and reconciliation of records and preparation
of summary financial and statistical reports. Process cash drawer
reimbursement requests for all cash activity employees by replenishing cash
drawers on an individual basis. If shortages/overages occur, document
amounts, balance the cash drawer with a supervisor override and replenish
cash drawers. Perform accounting examinations of source documentation to
ensure that calculations and modifications are verifiable. Notification to
Internal audit when appropriate.
* Research accounts for employees, students, and parents whom are directed
from the President's Office, Chancellor's Office, Dean of Students Office, etc.
Confer with external sources regarding student fee accounts. Collect, organize
and distribute incoming mail daily. Correspond (either verbally or in writing) to
incoming mail as necessary.
* Place requisitions for and maintain detailed inventories of supplies,
equipment and property in accordance with University policies, procedures
and regulations. Ensure equipment and software are in working condition.
* Respond to audits, federal, state and internal in a timely manner. Assume

Position Description
The Advising Center is a unit within the Office for Undergraduate Studies, which also includes Career Services and Cooperative Education, Center for Service Learning, First Year Experience, Mathematics Tutoring Center, and the Writing and Learning Commons. Under general direction, academic advisors are responsible for assisting with the university-wide development of a relationship-based model of academic advising in support of the educational success of the undergraduate student. Along with university colleagues in other units, advisors work to increase the yield and quality of the entering student, decrease time to graduation, and advance rates of completion. Academic advisors contribute to these efforts through their comprehensive knowledge of the academic and support programs of the University and a thorough understanding of student development theories in practice. Academic advisors are key players in support of the Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) whose overarching goal is to empower students to integrate knowledge and skills from their academic and co-curricular experiences to become intentional participants in their own learning.

Duties
Academic Advisors support the development of the whole student through the delivery of the following duties and responsibilities:
*Serve as first enrollment advisor for all incoming students; new freshmen, transfers, and re-entering

*Provide developmental academic advising to undeclared students
*Collaborate with Career Services staff to provide general career counseling

Must have the ability to work ethically with highly confidential information. Must have the ability to disseminate educational information to groups and individuals. Must have sensitivity to students whose cultural and educational experiences differ from his/her own. Must have the ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple tasks, and prioritize.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Microsoft Office preferred, knowledge of Banner preferred. Additional computer skills helpful.
