ANNOUNCEMENT
The
National Academic Advisor Association (NACADA) Region
2 has the following position open on the steering
committee:
Region
2: DC representatives to the Steering Committee
and Awards Chair.
2-year
term begins in November, 2008.
The
duties for this position are :
REGIONALLY:
Within the region, this position coordinates the
Region Awards Program. Specific duties are:
- Coordinate
the Regional Awards program, soliciting nominations
and notifying the Region Steering Committee of
award-winners.
- Coordinate
the communication of the awards to winners and
ordering recognition certificates and/or plaques.
- Ensure
that the Region 2 award requirements and guidelines
are followed fairly and consistently.
The
successful candidate:
has a demonstrated interest in the mission of
NACADA (volunteering, mentoring, presentations,
consistent attendance at conferences, etc.)
has institutional support to travel to conferences
and meetings.
is willing to serve a minimum 2 years.

The statement of interest will be posted to the
Region 2 election website with the resume. An election
will be conducted in October.
The
selection process will be on-line through the NACADA
election system and run from October 20-31, 2008.
The new steering committee member will be notified
by telephone.
Region
2 District of Columbia Regional Representative to
the Steering Committee
The
duties for this position are :
REGIONALLY:
Within the region, this representative serves as
the liaison with the District of Columbia. Specific
duties are:
- Coordinate
advising in DC through activities/meetings such
as a drive-in conference and organization of an
advising network.
- Host meetings
at the annual Regional Conference.
- Present
issues to regional board
- Identify
NACADA members in the District that could chair/host
meetings, conferences, and/or be involved on a
state, regional, or national level
- Participate
in setting goals and budget for the region
- Identify
facilities in the District for possible state/regional
meetings
- Attend
s teering committee 2-day meetings, usually
December 1 and June 1. (travel, food, and lodging
expenses are reimbursed by NACADA for these meetings).
The
successful candidate:
