Greetings!
And welcome to the conference site for the 2009 Northwest Region
8 NACADA Conference: Adventures in Advising: Reaching New Heights
in Student Success!
I look forward to
welcoming you to Missoula, Montana, April 27-29, 2009. This
will be the first time EVER in NACADA’s 30 year history
that the regional conference will be held in Montana. I, and
the conference planning committee, am very excited about this
opportunity to showcase our state for the first time.
Missoula, the beautiful city near
where I was born and raised, has much to offer. Lewis and Clark
first traversed through here along the now-named Clark Fork
River. It is the home of the University of Montana Grizzlies,
a historic downtown district, and beautiful parks and hiking
trails. Native American culture abounds, with the 41 st Annual
student-organized Kyi-Yo Pow Wow being held the week before
our conference. There will be plenty for you to take in while
in Missoula. Click on
“Things To Do” for more information.
A special treat for
us at the Region 8 Conference this year will be a performance
from the Missoula Children’s Theater, a performance arts group
for children. Make sure you attend the opening reception on
Monday evening to see this wonderful performance. You’ll also
have an opportunity throughout the entire conference to help
a child perform with Missoula Children’s Theater by purchasing
a raffle ticket for some fabulous gift items from Missoula Children’s
Theater. Click on “Service
Project” for more information!
Special
guests joining us this year will be NACADA President Casey Self,
from Arizona State University, and Charlie Nutt from the NACADA
Executive Office at Kansas State University. The planning committee
is busy organizing an amazing conference for these leaders and
for you!
During these tough economic times,
the planning committee realizes there may be difficulties in
funding your attendance this year. If you are interested in
sharing a ride or hotel room, please contact me. If you have
any additional questions, concerns, or suggestions, please let
me know. My information is provided below.
Welcome
to Montana! I’ll see you in Missoula in April.
