The Handbook of Career Advising is a resource for academic advisors seeking to enhance their career advising capabilities. By integrating academic advising into career advising, advisors will be better able to help students understand themselves, consider their life goals, and choose the appropriate academic course of action that will enable them to meet their professional aspirations.  Following a theory-to-practice model, the content moves from the strong foundation of career advising, including how the workplace has evolved and how it relates to issues of diversity to application issues, and offers information and resources to enhance career advising, proposes a framework for practice, addresses developing integrated career and academic advising programs, and explores ideas about assessment and evaluation of career advising. The book concludes with recommendations, challenges, and opportunities for the future.

Dorothy Burton Nelson directs the Center for Student Excellence at Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, Louisiana.

Joanne Damminger is the Director of Student Transition and Leadership Programs at Rowan University in Glassboro, New Jersey. She is also adjunct faculty at Rowan University, teaching courses in the Doctoral Program in Educational Leadership, and was formerly assistant director of the Career and Academic Planning Center there.

Betsy McCalla Wriggins is the Director Emeritus of the Career and Academic Planning Center at Rowan University in Glassboro, New Jersey. She was president of NACADA from 2001 to 2003.
