Joshua
Smith earned his Doctorate in Educational Psychology and Methodology
at the University at Albany, State University of New York.
Currently, he is an Assistant Professor of Educational Psychology
and Director of the Center for Urban and Multicultural Education
in the Indiana University School of Education at Indiana University-Purdue
University Indianapolis (IUPUI). Joshua’s research examines
educational transitions, including the transition from middle
school to high school and the transition from high school
to college. He also partners with schools and community-based
organizations to evaluate educational programs on student
outcomes and organizational effectiveness. He is active in
NACADA, currently serving as the Chair of the Research Committee,
NACADA Journal Board member, and Chair of the
Taskforce for Infusing Research throughout NACADA.

Troxel

Wendy
G. Troxel is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Educational
Administration and Foundations at Illinois State University,
where she teaches research methods courses in both quantitative
and qualitative methodologies, program evaluation and assessment,
and the American College Student. Her research interests are
in the area of teaching, learning, and advising in the first
year of college, the impact of formative assessment techniques
in the classroom, faculty and staff roles in the program assessment
process, and the identification of teaching skills in pre-college
students.
Wendy
most recently served as the Director of the University Assessment
Office at Illinois State University, coordinating student
learning outcomes research on campus and assisting faculty
and staff with the development, implementation, and use of
assessment activities to improve learning and development.
She earned her doctorate in educational leadership at the
University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), with special emphases
in both educational research and education law. She also served
as Director of Undergraduate Admissions at UAB.
Wendy
serves on the Editorial Board of Planning and Changing
Journal and is a member of the Board of Directors for
The Hoenny Center for Research and Development in Teaching.
She is a frequent presenter and workshop facilitator at national
and international conferences and special events on a wide
range of topics related to the assessment of student learning.
