Expanding the
Collection
NACADA members are encouraged to recommend materials for the Clearinghouse
based upon criteria listed below. The Clearinghouse is
not only looking for links to published resources, but also links
to Web sites, handbooks, evaluation tools or even stress relievers
that advisors "just can't live without." NACADA members
may recommend
a resource by contacting the Clearinghouse.
As the Clearinghouse
expands, materials will be selected based upon Nueva (CA) Library
guidelines listed below.
- Excellence
in the field; Lasting importance or significance to the field;
- Contribution
to diversity within the collection;
- Relevance
to the interests of NACADA members;
- Favorable
reviews found in standard selection sources;
- Favorable
recommendations based on preview and examination of materials by
professionals within the field;
- Reputation
and significance of the author, producer and publisher;
- Currency or
timeliness of material;
- Contribution
to the breadth and diversity of representative viewpoints on issues;
- Contribution
to multicultural and pluralistic awareness;
- High degree
of potential user appeal;
- Quality, durability,
and variety of format;
- Suitability
of format and appearance for intended use;
- Value commensurate
with cost and/or need.
