To celebrate NACADA's 30th Anniversary, there will be a trivia game at the NACADA Booth during the 2009 Annual Conference in San Antonio. Attendees who answer the questions correctly will have the opportunity to win NACADA Bucks.

Summer Institutes

Join us for the most comprehensive consideration of academic advising available! Registration fees have been held to 2007 rates, and two events provide a choice of locations and dates: Kansas City (June 28-July 3) and New Orleans (July 26-31). Participation is limited, so register now!

Apply for a Wesley R. Habley Summer Institute scholarship! This scholarship covers the registration fee (including all program materials) to attend the Academic Advising Summer Institute in Kansas City, Mo. or New Orleans. The deadline to submit an application is May 1.

Hotel: Reservations are now being accepted. Make your reservation as soon as possible! If you are interested in sharing hotel accommodations to stretch your travel budget, sign up at this site as well.

 

Registration: If you are fortunate enough to have money left in this fiscal year's budget, consider registering now - an abbreviated Preliminary Conference Registration Form is available.

 

Presentation Proposals: Over 700 proposals were received. If you submitted a proposal, you should have received notification of its status on April 1.  If not, please contact the Executive Office. Our thanks go to Jo Anne Huber and the ‘09 Program Committee, NACADA Commission Chairs and the hundreds of readers who made the proposal selection process run smoothly.

Donations are being accepted now! All proceeds from the auction will be used to fund NACADA region conference scholarships for graduate students.

This month in the NACADA Clearinghouse: The first article in a series celebrating NACADA’s 30th Anniversary. Maura Reynolds, Hope College, launches this series with her discussion of Developing a Good Working Relationship with the Registrar's Office.


Published this month, the spring 2009 issue of the NACADA Journal will feature current research along with classic articles from the NACADA Journal archives including the original O’Banion and Crookston articles. Watch for your copy in the mail this month.

Exemplary Practices in Advisor Training and Development sought. Narratives of selected programs will appear in the Commission-sponsored monograph to be published in 2010. Nominations are due by June 15.


NACADA is glad to announce that our Podcast Series is now available via our website. These podcasts offer an easy, cost effective way to gain professional development in specific areas.

  • NACADA would like to recognize individuals who receive campus awards in 2009 for outstanding academic advising (faculty or full-time) or advising administration.
