Web Page Development Guidelines for Interest Groups

Each Interest Group web site has separate web pages devoted to the information categories listed below. The content suggested for each page is explained.

 

Considered the home page for the Interest Group web site, this page includes the Interest Group's mission statement (if one exists) and a short description of the purpose of the Interest Group. The information on this page for each Interest Group will likely be the same information that is printed in the annual Commission and Interest Group Brochure. The Interest Group Chair's name, office phone number, and e-mail address will also appear on this page (also for co-chairs, if applicable). The Interest Group Chair is responsible for providing revised content for the mission statement and Interest Group description as needed, and Executive Office (EO) staff will post the changes.Interest Group Home —

 

This page includes overall goals and objectives established for the Interest Group. This information can be taken from the fall or post-conference annual report(s) that may be submitted to Division Representatives (optional for Interest Groups) and can be updated by EO staff when available. If no annual reports are submitted, then the IG Chair can submit this information to the EO at any time for posting.Interest Group Goals and Objectives —

 

The Interest Group Chair (or co-chairs, if applicable) name and contact information will be listed on this page. If the Interest Group has a steering committee or other committees, the members of those committees can be listed as well. Should Operating Principles exist for the Interest Group, the Chair will provide this information and EO staff will post it to this page.Interest Group Leadership —

If you have an Interest Group newsletter, links can be displayed on this page to the various issues. Reports submitted by interest group chairs are linked to this page. Updates on Interest Group activities and news can also be posted here. This page can be used to post links to Interest Group-related web sites that serve as vital resources for Interest Group members or other resource information. As Chair, you provide the resource descriptions and web addresses, and EO staff will post it.Interest Group Resources —

 

The Executive Office will post the names of Interest Group members who are recipients of NACADA awards. You will not need to provide any information for this page-it will be automatically updated by EO staff.Interest Group Awards —

 

This page can be used to post the following information:Interest Group Conference Events-

  • a list of interest group meetings or related sessions being presented at the annual conference each year (CGID Fair, roundtables, etc.)
  • ommission and Interest Group Fair held at the conferenceCinformation regarding the
  • an agenda for the Interest Group meeting held during the annual conference
  • links to various national or state conferences on topics of interest to Interest Group members

The annual Interest Group meeting will be posted automatically by EO staff after the date and time has been determined by the conference committee. Information on other related sessions, the annual meeting agenda, and links to other conferences of interest are provided by the Interest Group Chair and then posted by EO staff. 

GENERAL GUIDELINES:

  1. The Interest Group web pages can be updated as needed anytime during the year. While the Interest Group Chair is responsible for coordinating the content for some pages, the actual updates will be executed by the Executive Office staff.

  2. As Chair, you are ultimately responsible for the content of your Interest Group's web pages as outlined above. However, you can appoint a Webmaster to coordinate this responsibility.
  3. As the information for a particular page is received, it will be posted to the web. The initial development of these web pages will be an ongoing process — all information does not need to be provided at the same time.
  4. Graphics should be kept to a minimum on these pages.
  5. All content text should be submitted in a WORD document.
  6. No streaming video or audio content will be posted.
  7. You do not need to spend any time formatting the information you will be providing. The EO staff will format the information to fit the web page template. After the information is posted or changes made, you will be notified via e-mail of the completion of this task.
  8. The interest group's web site on the NACADA server is considered the official interest group web site.
