As a Summer Institute
participant, you are given the opportunity to prepare and present
(in your discussion group) anACTION PLANfor solving an
advising challenge on your campus. The scope of the action plan
is left up to you. The scope may be as narrow as devising a new
form or as broad as proposing a new model for delivery of advising
on your campus or recommending the use of new technology. You will
receive assistance with this project by attending relevant sessions,
group discussions, and group & individual consultations with
institute facilitators who have expertise in the area you have chosen.

Improve Advising, Services at the Leavenworth
Center of Kansas City Kansas Community College | Kansas
City Kansas Community College is a two-year public community
college with open-enrollment in an urban setting. The
Leavenworth Center is located 26 miles away from the main
campus in downtown Leavenworth Kansas. There are approximately
850 students with 66% attending part time and 34% being full-time
students. The center is very close to the military installation
Fort Leavenworth. The students are primarily non-traditional
ranging from dual high school students to older adults who
are also working fulltime and attending college to change
careers or improve their skills/lnowledge for their present
careers. Our largest age range represented is 44% of
our students are between the ages of 25 and 49. We service
the military and their families that are connected with Fort
Leavenworth and those that are deployed overseas, wanting
