Position Description

Organizational Unit Overview Athletic Student Development within the Office of Enrollment Services provides academic advising and support services to the university’s student-athlete population. The athletics program is comprised of 20 varsity sports, nine men’s and 11 women’s. The student development program is committed to supporting the academic progress of student-athletes and the achievement of their educational objectives. Job Duties Coordinate study hall, monitor attendance and prepare study hall reports for coaches. Monitor student academic progress through contact with the faculty, meetings with the students and progress report data. Implement appropriate academic intervention strategies. Keep supervisor, coaches and athletic administrators informed as to student progress. Provide advising and registration services for designated student-athletes. Monitor and track for NCAA, conference and institutional eligibility. Maintain eligibility and advising files on assigned student-athletes. Meet with recruits to discuss academic services and university policies. Assist the director on various projects as assigned. Be available to work evenings and weekends. Maintain student confidentiality. Position is contingent upon available funding. Minimum Education/Experience Bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and at least three years of experience working with students at the postsecondary level or a master’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and experience working with students at the postsecondary level. Must be able to work with a diverse population and within a team atmosphere. Qualifying degrees must be conferred by the time of hire.

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education
• Master’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and at least one year of experience working with student-athletes at the postsecondary level.
• Knowledge of NCAA requirements as they pertain to initial and continuing eligibility.
