The Director of Academic Advising will provide vision and leadership to a newly centralized advising department in support of the college's mission and strategic direction. The Director of Academic Advising will seek to identify barriers to equitable student access and achievement and will advocate for improvements in advising and other institutional policies and procedures to address them. The Director will manage and supervise a team of academic advisors and foster a collaborative team environment focused on student success. Grounded in holistic advising, the Director will work closely with all departments on campus to coordinate and enhance a case management approach to academic advising.
Manage recruitment, hiring, training, professional development and evaluation of professional and support staff in advising. Build and maintain collaborative partnerships across all divisions and all positions (faculty and staff) of the college in order to integrate the planning and execution of holistic, proactive, and seamless delivery of advising. Develop, implement, and manage a complex, comprehensive academic & transfer advising program, ensuring the delivery of a proactive, developmental student support system from degree declaration through graduation. Develop and implement programs, activities, and strategies through the guided pathways framework that improves student success and completion of a diverse student body. Utilize diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) best practices to identify, develop and implement equitable academic advising supports and relevant resources for students. Manage advising assignments. Update and implement advising procedures and practices to promote the success of students. Coordinate college advising efforts with campus stakeholders (e.g., Academic Support Services, Career Services, Accommodation Services, Student Assistance Team, TRIO programs, and Equity in Student Success Coaches, and others) to provide the appropriate support for students. Collaborate with external transfer partners. Perform other related work duties as assigned.

Master’s degree in counseling, student affairs, higher education leadership or related field conferred by a regionally accredited institution. Minimum of two years of experience as an academic advisor. Minimum of two years of management/supervisory experience. Minimum of two years of experience in a community college.
Knowledge and experience with the guided pathways framework. Knowledge and experience with student development theories and practices. Experience monitoring outcomes and using data to make process improvements.
