Position Description

The University of North Carolina at Charlotte, College of Health and Human Services invites applications for a full-time, 12 month, EHRA Academic Advisor position in the Advising Center in the College of Health and Human Services. The primary focus of this position is providing academic advising, using the developmental advising approach, and guidance to prospective and admitted students in the college. Academic Advisors also teach one first year Prospect for Success class.

Duties

Academic advising of health systems management, pre-majors and minors in nursing, kinesiology, public health and social work, primarily. Teach one first year college introductory course; provide service to the Advising Center and university; participate in student orientation and open houses.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications

As a college and university, we are committed to equity and inclusion with our students, faculty and staff. A successful candidate will have a minimum of a Master degree in student personnel, health and human services or related field, one year of academic advising experience in higher education (university or college) and competency in Word, Email, and one student services software (such as Banner, SIS).

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred candidates will have more than one year of experience as an academic advisor, teaching experience, and competency in a degree auditing and an electronic advising software.
