Position Description

The academic advisor is responsible for all aspects of advising for incoming and current students regarding courses, activities, progress towards degree, internships, graduate programs, professional school, and audits of each student’s records. This position will work with three student populations within the College of Pharmacy: Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical Science (BSBP), Pre-Doctoral in Pharmacy, and Doctor in Pharmacy (PharmD).


The academic advisor will assist the department and the college with recruitment, transition, and retention efforts. The advisor will assist students interested in CODO (Change of Degree Objective), transfers from other institutions, reentry, or readmissions into programs and departments. The advisor will be aware of resources across campus and will be able to direct students to the appropriate office &/or person. The advisor will be aware of and convey relevant institutional policies.

Required Qualifications

*Master's degree in a field relevant to the position
*One year of student advising or other relevant work experience
*Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
*Must be able to collaborate with faculty, staff, students and parents
*Basic skills in Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
