Position Description

Coordinates and oversees the transfer course articulation process for 41 academic programs and general education courses. The position collaborates with the Directors of Undergraduates Studies for the Colleges numerous academic programs and advisors in the review process of over 8,000 courses reviewed annually. The position partners with the campus Transfer Articulation Degree Audit Office regarding course articulation, data mining, articulation assessment, public facing information technology transferability application and documents, and meetings and conferences with community college partners. Provides training to Program/Student (Academic) Advisors. Provides academic advising to students.


  • Provides academic advising to students, serving as a cohort advisor for undergraduate students in evaluating degree requirements and progress, providing related guidance and direction.
  • Identifies students’ needs, providing guidance and direction to undergraduate students regarding academic and professional planning.
  • Coordinates and approves course articulations, serving as the liaison to the Transfer Articulation Degree Audit Office.
  • Coordinates the course articulation process with the Student Affairs Administration in consultation with the Director of Academic Advising and the Orientation Program Coordinator.
  • Intervenes and refers students to resources in the University/Campus community as may be needed. Exercises professional discretion and judgment to trouble-shoot issues and problems that may arise.
  • Provides guidance and direction regarding University, Campus and College policies, procedures, course registration and selection, along with available resources and opportunities.
  • Guides students through the petition process for exceptions to academic policies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Arts & Sciences, Counseling, Education or other related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Additional education or other formal training/education in the areas of Higher Education, Counseling, Student Affairs or other related discipline helpful.
  • Demonstrated work experience in student/academic advising, counseling or other related field preferably in an institution of higher learning.
  • Excellent communication, organization, presentation and computer/pc skills are required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office to include: Outlook. Word, Excel and PowerPoint, along with other related software.
