Position Description

Job Description Summary
The Academic Advisor II advises students concerning their academic plans and progress, academic schedule, choice of major, and other academic activities and career goals, to assist the students in making decisions concerning personal educational goals leading to graduation. Advisors are committed to providing guidance in academic and personal development in a collaborative and mentoring environment. The objective is to foster interaction between the advisors and students in a supportive atmosphere where students will achieve self-sufficiency while implementing their educational goals to reach degree completion.


Typical duties include but are not limited to:
•Provides one-on-one and group advising to students within the College/Unit.
•Assists students in developing an education plan for timely graduation.
•Conducts regular degree progression audits for assigned caseload.
•Provides academic advising to groups of incoming students during the Eagle View Orientation process. •Requests course evaluations and updates course articulation as needed.
•Prepares degree audit and other academic information for incoming students.
•Enters course substitutions and exceptions in the degree audit system.
•Reviews and processes transient application requests.
•Represents the Department and the Division during campus and community recruitment and outreach events, such as Eagle Expo and Weeks of Welcome.
•Maintains advising records and confidential student information.
Other Duties:
•Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Master’s degree in an appropriate discipline from an accredited institution. Three years of experience in an academic advising environment or at the level of Academic Advisor I. Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered, Experience operating a personal computer and proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).

Preferred Qualifications

Experience delivering workshops or presentations at university programs.
