Position Description
This position will advise, education and coach Exploratory Studies students entering the University of Nebraska at Omaha.

Duties
Advise, educate, coach, and support students and alumni with academic and career related decisions. Responsible for academic advising & coaching of Exploratory Studies Students enrolled in Interdisciplinary Studies; assisting them in determining and reaching academic goals; meeting general education requirements; and transferring to degree-granting programs. Collaborate with faculty, administrators, and campus departments to identify, define, and meet student career planning and exploration needs, goals, and objectives. Provide individual and group career advice and career direction services to exploratory students. Present academic and career-related workshops to students, UNO staff, employers and prospective students. Act as liaison to assigned college(s) and campus departments.This position is funded for three years by Academic Affairs to support initiatives in the completion imperative. Continuation beyond three years is dependent on additional funding being secured.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications
Required Education: Bachelor’s degree
Required Experience: Previous experience in higher education with preference given to academic or career advising experience. Graduate internship can qualify as previous experience.

 

Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in a related field (counseling, psychology, student personnel, human resources, business administration, student affairs) earned or in-progress
