Position Description

SDSU seeks a full-time Professional Academic Advisor in the College of Nursing to lead in recruitment, advising, and monitoring of student progression in meeting graduation requirements. This is a 12 month, full-time, benefit-eligible position. This position is supervised by the Director of Nursing Student Services.

Duties

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Successful recruitment of undergraduate nursing students in the College of Nursing.
• Understands the essentials of baccalaureate program for student achievement of competencies.
• Ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of potential and enrolled students.
• Advise nursing students, including monitoring student academic performance and progress in meeting graduation requirements.
• Accurate and timely coordination and communication of all student activities.

• Master’s degree in Counseling, or field related to specific duties by start date;
• At least one year of higher education advising experience;
• Excellent oral and written communication skills;
• Demonstrated organizational and time management skills;
• Valid driver’s license, or ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire, and willingness to travel.

Preferred Qualifications

• At least five years of higher education advising experience; • Demonstrated experience with evaluating transcripts and new student orientation;
• Demonstrated experience with Banner Student and/or other student information systems
