The College of Business at Colorado State University is an AACSB accredited business school which enrolls more than 3,800 undergraduate students in ten business concentrations and approximately 1,500 graduate students across eight graduate programs. While we are the largest undergraduate and graduate major on campus, we strive to create a small college environment. Colorado State University invites nominations and applications for an Undergraduate Academic Advisor. This is a 12-month administrative professional position eligible for University benefits. The position will work within the College of Business within the Undergraduate Programs Office and will report to the Assistant Director of Undergraduate Programs. Colorado State University is a public, land-grant institution of higher education that offers academic programs through eight colleges. Colorado State University is located in Fort Collins, a city with a population of approximately 140,000 people, which is 65 miles north of Denver. The city offers a unique blend of metropolitan advantages and small town friendliness. Qualifications:

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, Sociology, Human Development and Family Studies, Student Affairs, or related field;
- Two years of experience in higher education academic advising;
- Experience working with historically underrepresented students such as ethnically/racially diverse students, first generation students, and international students;
- Experience with program development, and event planning, organizing, and implementation;
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communications skills.

Preferred Qualifications

- Previous experience in student advising;
- Experience working with non-resident, diverse, veterans, and international students;
- Demonstrated commitment to working with students -Knowledge of developmental/intrusive academic advising theory, models, and practices;
-Strong listening, paraphrasing, summarizing, and problem solving skills;
-Understanding and knowledge of higher education philosophy and practices (particularly Land Grant);
-Conflict management and conflict resolution skills;
-Knowledge of higher education technology systems (preferably Banner, Slate, and Navigate);
-Understanding and appreciation of personal and professional ethics;
-Ability to evaluate student needs and provide appropriate referral resources;
-Ability to work collaboratively with multiple programs and resources;
-Understanding, passion, and strength working with people from diverse/cultural backgrounds (including international)
- Strong customer-service skills, and ability to successfully work with multiple constituents including students, parents, faculty, and staff;
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite
- Master’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, Sociology, Human Development and Family Studies, Student Affairs, or related field.
