Position Description

The Department of Soil and Crop Sciences seeks an Academic Success Coordinator to strengthen ongoing departmental efforts to provide quality advising, enhance undergraduate student success, and support the campus priority for a diverse and supportive learning environment. This is a 12-month, full-time regular, administrative professional position. The primary functions of this position are to:
1) work individually with Soil and Crop majors to develop, implement, and monitor a plan of study leading to timely graduation and eventual attainment of career goals;
2) assist new students with a successful transition to the university;
3) support departmental recruiting and outreach activities,
4) foster student engagement with faculty mentors and departmental programs and activities,
5) implement department and college initiatives related to student diversity and inclusivity,
6) support department communications and marketing efforts including print collateral and website content.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree
• Two years of demonstrated experience in an advising or mentoring role
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to work in a computerized environment using web based software and data management systems
• Evidence of commitment to supporting a diverse and inclusive work environment as demonstrated by written materials/statement

Preferred Qualifications

• Degree(s) emphasis in Soil and/or Crop Sciences, Horticulture Science, Agricultural Education, Environmental and Natural Resources, Biological Sciences, or related degree
• Advanced degree in a STEM and/or advising, student affairs related discipline
• Strong working knowledge of agriculture through experience, background, and/or education
• Strong communications and presentation skills relevant to the student experience
• Experience in developing K-12 outreach and recruitment activities
• Demonstrated experience in diversity and inclusivity initiatives
• Demonstrated ability to work in collaborative teams
• Demonstrated interest and/or ability to summarize and quantitatively analyze data
• Experience developing content for website and/or printed collateral
