The College of Business and Security Management Dean's Office is seeking an organized, friendly, and motivated Student Advisor/Recruiting Coordinator who enjoys working as part of a team.
This position is a 12-month full time benefited position with regular business hours (Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm).
Occasional travel to college/career fairs may be required.
This position serves as one of three academic advisors for CBSM, which has undergraduate programs in Accounting, Applied Management, Business Administration, Homeland Security and Emergency Management, and Sport and Recreation Business. Our graduate degree programs include Masters in Business Administration and Masters of Security and Disaster Management. CBSM also offers a post baccalaureate certificate in Accounting, multiple graduate certificates in Homeland Security and Emergency Management fields, and an Occupational Endorsement Certificate in Homeland Security. Perform academic advising at the undergraduate and graduate levels for all CBSM programs.
Advise students in-person, over the phone, via Zoom, respond to email inquiries, and coordinate advising needs with faculty members. Interpret test scores to determine student placement and ensure timely completion of student paperwork related to degree completion and graduation.
Assess special circumstances and approve exceptions to regular processes as needed.
Coordinate with CBSM faculty and the Financial Aid Office on annual scholarship awards.
Work with the CBSM academic advising team to plan, coordinate, and implement recruiting and retention activities.
Make recommendations to the CBSM Executive Committee on recruiting and retention strategies.
Assist with collecting data and writing the enrollment management report.
Communicate CBSM program information to prospective undergraduate and graduate students via in-person, phone, and email contact.
Meet with students and parents during campus visits to provide program information and answer questions. Answer routine inquiries and provide information to internal and external audiences.
Market CBSM programs by attending college and career fairs locally and outside of Fairbanks.
Present to groups visiting campus and virtually to partner programs at other institutions.
Speak to incoming students at UAF recruiting functions and high school advising events.
Responsible for planning and coordinating CBSM recruiting and orientation events.
Coordinate Articulation Agreements:
Assist in the formulation of Memorandums of Understandings (MOUs) and articulation agreements with community colleges throughout the country to aid in increasing enrollments for all CBSM programs. Communicate with interested colleges about our programs and degree requirements.
Answer questions and serve as a liaison between the community colleges and UAF.
Develop drafts and work with the credit transfer team, the Provost Office, and UA Legal Counsel to ensure that all agreements conform to UAF requirements for articulation agreements.
Must have the ability to provide high-quality advising to incoming and current students.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of students. Ability to work with faculty, staff, and students in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Ability to understand and communicate UAF academic policies and procedures.

This is a full-time, Grade 79, minimum starting wage is $54,246.40 (actual salary will be DOE), 12-month position complete with competitive salary and UA employee benefits package.
