POSITION: A full-time, professional academic staff position is available in the Advising, Retention, and Career Center with a projected start date of March 16, 2020. This is a renewable assignment, contingent on performance. The starting salary range will be between $55,000 - $59,000 and is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY: The Assistant Director for Orientation contributes to the vision of the Advising, Retention, and Career Center. They will provide leadership in the coordination of programming, communication and resources for all students new to the university.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversees orientation programming for a variety of student populations including new students and transfer students
Creates and coordinates comprehensive communication plans for incoming students specific to special populations’ needs
Hire, train, and supervise student interns and student orientation assistants
Collaborates with campus departments to support recruitment and retention opportunities
Oversee the various orientation budgets
Assess the quality and effectiveness of orientation programming, suggest improvements as appropriate
Chair the Orientation Workgroup and serve as an active member of other related campus committees
Oversees related social media
Support the Associate Director of Advising on coordination of orientation training and creation of orientation support materials for academic advisors
Administers the “Blugold Family Connections” communication outreach and programming efforts
Organizes and facilitates year-round strategic student advising communication campaigns specific to topics of student success and retention
Stay current in the field/professional development activities as appropriate to professional role
Perform other duties as assigned
