Position Description

The Assistant Director of Advising will work closely with the Director of Advising to lead, manage, hire, train and evaluate the college’s academic advisors, to include serving as direct-report supervisor for six or more advisors across all of the college’s academic units. Reporting to the director of advising, the assistant director will track workload of the entire work center, prepare administrative reports, and lead some of the Student Service meetings. The assistant director will also advise a small population of undergraduate students with the registration process, schedule adjustments and other support. Finally, the assistant director will organize, lead and implement STAR for the college and coordinate orientation activities while representing the college on various university committees.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications

Master’s degree in student personnel, higher education or related field 4-5 years of student advising experience or other student facing experience
Must have some leadership or supervisory experience
Strong verbal and written communication skills Interpersonal skills and professionalism in working with faculty, staff, students and parents
Ability to work collaborative within a team
Planning, problem solving, organizational and project management skills
Skill in leading others while fostering an environment of continuous improvement
Ability to analyze data communicate impact
Demonstrated ability to utilize technology (Microsoft Office Suite, and relational databases such as Banner and Cognos)

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of programs and majors in the Polytechnic Institute
