Position Description

Under the supervision of the Director of Academic Advising and in addition to advising a caseload of students, the Coordinator of Transfer Advising will oversee the delivery of transfer services to include transfer counseling and program development. The Coordinator is also responsible administration of articulation activities including curriculum and program review, acting as a liaison between departments and colleges, as well as the design, implementation, and maintenance of articulation agreements. With a global perspective and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, the Coordinator of Transfer Advising will be an integral part of the student retention and completion team. Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required.

Duties

1. Serve as primary advisor to caseload of no more than 100 students, including:
a) Conducting academic readiness, career advising, academic improvement, and transfer advising meetings with individual students;
b) Conducting proactive outreach to caseload; and,
c) Tracking individual meeting and student success data for caseload.

2. Oversee the delivery of transfer services, including:
a) Developing transfer advising protocols and cross-training Advising Office staff accordingly;
b) Providing professional development opportunities for faculty who advise;
c) Collaborating with academic departments on the creation and maintenance of articulation agreements and MOU;
d) Coordinating transfer advising events including visits to campus by four-year college personnel;
e) Representing the College at regional and statewide transfer events and meetings; and,
f) Maintaining transfer Web site and communication platforms.

3. Other duties related to advising and readiness assessment as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution plus 5 years of experience and/or training that includes academic advising, academic support, college-level teaching, college placement testing, career counseling or advising, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
2. Demonstrated experience working with college students from diverse race, gender, age, religious, and identity backgrounds.
3. Excellent communication skills.
4. Ability to work as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution plus 7 years of experience and/or training that includes academic advising, academic support, college-level teaching, college placement testing, career counseling or advising, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
2. Community college experience.
3. Knowledge of MassTransfer programs and procedures.
