Position Description

The Degree Auditor will work collaboratively with leadership to ensure delivery of existing services and development of new functionality and services in the Degree Works system.

Duties

• Collaborates with the university community for the continuing implementation and optimization of Degree Works audit system and the Student Educational Planner.
• Maintains and troubleshoots academic program requirements in the Degree Works degree auditing system, including updating the Scribe and maintaining templates in the Student Educational Planner.
• Participates in the definition and maintenance of the Scribe and content for academic program requirements.
• Anticipates degree audit reporting and advisement needs. Develops and implements effective solutions tailored to specific situations.
• Provides functional support using the degree auditing system.
• Tests accuracy of degree audit and adjust logic as needed.
• Assists with curriculum development processes and review of materials. Makes updates to catalog database based on curriculum changes.
• Reviews current processes, evaluates and implements changes for improvement.
• Provides problem-resolution with coding, exceptions, curriculum and/or degree programs; responsible for updates in the Degree Works system.
• Confirms changes to curriculum and program data meets current policy.
• Contact Ellucian support center with issues relating to Scribe.
• Analyze and interpret degree requirements and scribe requirements for each major and program into the Degree Works system.
• Test each component and analyze results to ensure accuracy, and troubleshoot implementation issues and assist with the implementation of the Degree Works system by developing detailed end-user documentation and delivering end-user training as needed.
• Maintain the degree audit system by analyzing changes to academic requirements, course degree attributes, course number changes, equivalent courses, and other course and/or program updates annually, making appropriate updates to the system.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree and one year of experience directly related to the job functions or a high school diploma and five years of experience directly related to the job functions. Directly related college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference shown to applicants who meet the required qualifications and also possess the following:
• Knowledge of curriculum and academic program structures in a university setting.
• Ability to analyze curriculum requirements, interpret and translate to Scribe.
• Ability to apply rule sets to complex information, using logic and analytical techniques.
• Advanced technical knowledge of and experience with Degree Works or other on-line degree audit system.
• Skilled in use of Scribe and Student Educational Planner in the Degree Works degree audit system.
• Knowledge of University policies and procedures.
• Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
• Ability to be proactive, anticipate outcomes and consequences of different approaches, and make modifications to action plans.
• Ability to maintain knowledge of current technological developments/trends in area of expertise.
• Excellent technical and analytical abilities.
• Ability to work independently as a member of a team. • Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
• Excellent interpersonal and oral and written communication skills.
• Experience in training multiple constituencies in a diverse organization.
• Ability to create, compose and edit written materials. • Analytical, investigative and problem solving skills.

Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree from accredited institution.
• Two years of experience working with student information systems in higher education.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Four years of experience working with student information systems in higher education.
• Experience supporting a degree audit system.
• Experience and knowledge of Oracle database/SQL.
