Position Description

Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Student Success, the Director of Advising is responsible for the development and implementation of holistic and comprehensive advising services supports and sustains student success through a collaborative process with Academic Affairs and other university and community constituents.

Duties

Assists in the development of effective advising model and approach that provides high quality professional advising support while ensuring strong faculty-student mentoring and engagement and effective faculty-advisor relationships. Develops a culture of assessment and accountability in all aspects of student success. Provides regular reports on the effectiveness of student success functions. Conducts regular informational meetings with advising staff and implements a professional development and training program for academic advisors.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications

(A) Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and related experience in higher education administration or appropriate academic discipline, (B) A minimum of three (3) years of academic advising, academic support services, or student success work including supervisory and leadership-level responsibilities.

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced degree in relevant academic field preferred. Increasingly responsible administrative experience in an advising leadership role in a directly related field (e.g., higher education administration, education, or counseling).
