Position Description

The Director works as part of the Krannert Professional Development Center (KPDC) team, in strong collaboration with Advising and Alumni Relations, to manage the CareerBound program with the ultimate outcome of transforming the preparation of Krannert Undergraduate students to be “career-ready” upon graduation. The work includes long range planning, design, and implementation of CareerBound as it expands over time to include all undergraduate students. The Director will suggest changes or improvements as appropriate in conjunction with advising, alumni relations, KPDC Employer Engagement and Faculty. Guide further development, implementation, review and evaluation of the CareerBound/undergraduate programs and aligned services. Leverage the online platforms that CareerBound uses to connect with students and to collect data. Effectively recruit and on-board new employees as well as train and mentor new and existing employees responsible for CareerBound and Undergraduate career development efforts (including MGT295).


As the Director there will be a need to effectively communicate the mission and vision of CareerBound and ensure future direction of the program aligns accordingly. They will also oversee all aspects of related efforts and activities by overseeing the CareerBound program and managing CareerBound / undergraduate career advisors. Use strategic planning to develop strategies to serve student populations, deliver information in ways that resonate with today's students and infuse career readiness and National Association of Colleges & Employers (NACE) career competencies into the Krannert culture.

Required Qualifications

Master's degree in education, career counseling, business administration, or related field 4 years of total work experience in student affairs, higher education, business management, human resources or related experience with at least 2 years of supervisory experience In lieu of a degree, consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of related education and required work experience
Strong leadership skills including project management and working across organizational departments Experience and proficiency with incorporating the use of technology to deliver career services Knowledge of career development, learning styles and the NACE career competencies
Demonstrated verbal and written skills in communicating complex information to both internal and external audiences
Demonstrated skill in establishing effective working relationships with staff of all levels, faculty, employers and alumni
Ability to think critically and creatively, as well as to imagine possibilities for solutions that do not currently exist or are not apparent
Ability to apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
Ability to effectively lead, mentor, manage conflict, and guide staff to enhance performance

Preferred Qualifications

5 years of total work experience in student affairs, higher education, business management, human resources or related experience with at least 2 years of supervisory experience
