The Graduate Programs Office in the College of Business at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln invites applications for a Graduate Advisor and Engagement Coordinator. This position is responsible for the development and implementation of programs and services that enhance the graduate student experience and promote the personal development and academic success of CoB graduate students across a variety of masters and certificate programs. This position will hold advisory responsibilities for assigned graduate students, which will include academic advising and professional guidance. In addition, this role is responsible for supporting student engagement activities, which include, but are not limited to, a mentorship program, professional development programs, and case competitions. This position will support recruiting efforts by meeting with prospective students, attending graduate school and career fairs and responding to phone/e-mail inquiries. This position will also develop and support student engagement activities including, but not be limited to developing and managing professional development programs for graduate students.
About the MBA@Nebraska, Flex MBA and other Business Graduate Programs:
This position will support students in multiple graduate programs in the College of Business. The largest program (approximately 80% of students) are enrolled in the MBA@Nebraska, a fully online MBA program. The program is highly ranked and serves students from across the country and the world. In 2018, the Financial Times ranked the online MBA@Nebraska as the number one value in the U.S. and number one for student ROI in the world. Students join the program from a variety of industries and locations, bringing an average of 8 years of professional work experience, creating a rich teaching and learning environment. The College of Business at UNL is committed to providing an excellent MBA experience to online students. To facilitate this charge, the college has invested in a team of instructional designers to help instructors deliver high quality content with state of the art pedagogy and course design. The college also hosts its own production studio, where studio quality video production is used to create course videos and lecture materials. The advising and engagement coordinator is critical to the success of the program as we seek to provide a high-touch, individualized experience to meet the demands of working professionals who are completing their degrees part-time. This position will also support the Flex MBA, certificate programs and two new online Master’s programs. The Flex MBA offers students in Lincoln and the surrounding area the opportunity to take courses both on-campus and online. Students are able to complete a majority of their core classes in person, while also being able to enjoy the flexibility of online electives to round out their degree program. The College of Business has launched two new MS programs in Finance and Business Analytics, respectively. These programs are shorter and more focused, but still offer the students the benefits of an engaging online experience.

Bachelor’s degree plus 2 years of experience working with students or working in a customer/client service setting required. Will consider closely related Master’s degree in lieu of experience. Experience must demonstrate strong speaking and writing skills as well as proficiency with PC-based word processing, presentation, databases or other electronic systems for tracking and managing information (e.g., CRM, accounts, data, forms). Demonstrated effective communication skills as evidenced by application materials necessary. Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail essential.
Master’s degree in business, education or related field preferred. Experience working directly in a customer service capacity or directly with adult learners in an advising capacity desirable. Prefer professional experience handling sensitive information and/or situations requiring discretion and conformity to confidentiality and security protocols. Prior experience with developing and implementing student engagement programs is desirable. Experience collaborating and communicating with individuals from varying cultures, backgrounds, or levels of authority helpful. Experience investigating, interpreting and communicating guidelines, regulations, policies, and procedures preferred. Demonstrated ability to work independently to organize and track tasks/projects and to meet deadlines helpful.
