Position Description

West Chester University of Pennsylvania invites applicants for the position of Professional Student Success Coordinator within the College of Education and Social Work (CESW). WCU is a community of educators dedicated to developing graduates who succeed personally and professionally and contribute to the common good. The Professional Student Success Coordinator serves to assist in the enrollment process of all students to help them meet their educational goals. Specifically, coordinators are assigned as a point of contact for a group of students to guide them to academic success. The Professional Student Success Coordinator motivates and assists with solutions to issues that arise in the academic and non-academic settings.


• Supporting students from initial matriculation through graduation.
• Maintaining enrollment records of programs.
• Consulting students by phone, email, and video chat.
• Resolving problems by clarifying issues; researching and exploring answers and alternative solutions; escalating unresolved problems. Follow up to ensure resolution of each issue.
• Assisting in the re-enrollment of students by focusing on intervention efforts.
• Working collaboratively with departments and units across the university to resolve student issues.
• Staying current with changing institutional information including admissions requirements, new programs, course changes, deadlines, important dates, costs, expanding facilities, updates in college-wide initiatives, transfer requirements, and state and federal mandates.
• Serving on university-wide committee(s) focused on student success.
• Working with students to ensure a solid academic plan and ensure continued registration.
• Providing accurate individualized basic academic sequencing to a group of assigned students.
• As needed, offering training for students and faculty on advising and scheduling tools.
• Contacting students who have not registered for the next term to identify potential problems and assist in resolving difficulties.
• Contacting students experiencing academic difficulties in their classes and discuss appropriate support.
• Maintaining appropriate records and recommendations for students served.
• Using predictive analytics to identify at-risk students’ progress and coordinate wrap-around services.
• Providing transfer concierge services to transfer students.
• Sharing program information with and answer questions from prospective students.
• Developing and delivering programming to students of CESW that address non-academic factors that impact student success.
• Coordinating the CESW ambassador leadership/peer mentorship program.

Required Qualifications

• Three (3) years experience in higher education working directly with students
• Master’s degree in a discipline related to those offered within the College of Education and Social Work

Preferred Qualifications

• Evidence of leading training workshops
• Leadership role in committee work, student organization or other related group
• Evidence of strong organizational and communication skills
• Experience working with predictive analytics tools
• Experience with student record software
• Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Programs including Outlook, Word, and Excel
