Position Description

Life University is looking for a dynamic and compassionate individual to serve as the PASS (Progressive Advisement for Student Success) Academic Advisor. This position aids the Doctor of Chiropractic Program by providing support in the areas of registration, scheduling, and advisement with an emphasis on high quality service to students.


  • Meet with returning students either in person or via phone to review academic standing, registration status, program requirements, assist with student planning and answer basic program questions.
  • Answer questions from new and returning students regarding courses, registration process, and general advisement.
  • Maintains accurate and appropriate information regarding caseload, and term to term management of that case load.
  • Send check-in emails to current caseload and update communication on STRK.
  • Coordinate and problem solves with other academic and administrative support services to provide a positive experience for the student.
  • Maintains accurate and appropriate information regarding caseload, and term to term management of that case load.
  • Assist with and coordinate administrative holds on registration.
  • Provide timely data and reports as requested and directed.
  • Contact and schedule appointments for new students to be advised.
  • Review student records and prepare a transition list each term for students transitioning to a SPA or to faculty.
  • Work on-call to assist students without appointments both UG and DC.
  • Facilitate weekly FYE & FYEX 1101 classes, prepare materials and lessons, maintain gradebooks and grade assignments.
  • Audit New student academic plans to ensure students are selecting the correct classes.
  • Complete quarterly FYE/FYEX exemption.

Required Qualifications

  • A Master’s Degree.
  • One year of experience in academic advising at the collegiate level.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively use computer programs software (Microsoft Office Suite), hardware and presentation programs.
  • Ability to maintain a courteous and professional attitude in stressful situations.
  • Ability to perform assigned duties with frequent interruptions and time pressures.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve routine and crisis situations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with unique student populations.
  • Experience facilitating first year and academic success courses at the college level.
  • Working knowledge of Datatel’s Colleague platform.
