Position Description

This position is responsible for acting as lead advisor and admissions counselor/admissions records supervisor for undergraduate programs in the College of Business and for administration of the process for determining acceptance of COB undergraduates into candidacy for BBA degree programs; providing advising for current, former, and prospective BBA students; and conducting group orientations.


• Provide leadership in implementing a centralized advising model for students in the College of Business; • Advise appropriate course schedules each semester for freshmen and sophomore Business Administration majors and all online BBA majors; • Ensure all business students are provided consistent, accurate, and prompt advising services, coordinating with academic departments; • Develop application procedures, recordkeeping forms, and systems for undergraduate admission into the COB upon completion of 45 semester hours of academic credits; • Manage the student application process, assess status of applications for admission, and determine eligibility for admission to candidacy for Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) programs; • Maintain student records regarding admission into the BBA program and monitor students’ progress in meeting set course completion goals and timelines; • Coordinate communications with Enrollment Management, SOAR personnel, academic advisors, etc.; • Promote academic success by continually monitoring student progress throughout the semester; • Provide a preliminary degree audit for all COB students who submit a graduation application; • Advise students and make appropriate referrals for assistance for students who fail to meet undergraduate academic admission requirements for admission to the degree programs within the COB; • Develop and streamline advising procedures to assist faculty and staff in the undergraduate advising process and provide updates to COB faculty of curriculum changes at the university of North Alabama through yearly sessions, supplemented by emails with notes from the Undergraduate Curriculum Committee (UCC); • Interpret academic policies such as the university’s repeat/recompute, SAP, degree requirements, course placement, and registration, for faculty, staff, and students; • Analyze data needs, determine scope of elements needed, and analyze data to produce BBA reports related to student admission/registration status on a regular and ad hoc basis; • Conduct BBA group orientation sessions and individual orientation sessions; • Conduct curriculum mapping for international academic transfer agreements; • Advise students from other colleges at UNA and community colleges in their transition into the UNA College of Business; • Evaluate advising effectiveness for the college on an annual basis; • Supervise and train advising staff; • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications


• Master’s degree is required; • Experience in a similar organizational setting is required: • Experience in higher education is required.

Leadership/Supervisory experience preferred.
