Position Description

Academic advisors facilitate the holistic growth and development of students as they transition to and through the institution and navigate their undergraduate experience. Using techniques of academic advising, academic planning, and resource connection, academic advisors aim to facilitate students’ development, success, and engagement.


This position provides academic advising services to an assigned caseload of students from their transition to and throughout their time at the institution. Academic advisors assist students with academic planning, course registration, academic strategies, selecting majors and minors, academic opportunities and requirements, policies and procedures, and developing post-graduation plans. Advisors are expected to utilize creative problem-solving to troubleshoot student issues as they arise, monitor students’ academic progress to advise them of their academic standing, communicate to students the process and deadlines for graduation processing, and confirm degree completion. Required Qualifications

Master’s degree and a minimum of 3 years of advising or counseling experience is required.

Preferred Qualifications

Ph.D. or equivalent experience in academic setting is preferred.
