Position Description
This is an academic advising position to serve as a campus resource for general academic information. This position will be part of the pre-professional committee, advising undergraduate students interested in and admitted to nursing programs with a special emphasis on supporting students from disadvantaged backgrounds. It is funded through a grant to increase diversity among pre-nursing and nursing students.

Institution Information
Western Carolina University is a mid-size (10,000 students) comprehensive university with a College of Health Science and Human Services. Within the College is the School of Nursing. The School of Nursing offers multiple programs to allow students to earn their Bachelor of Science in Nursing, in two locations (Cullowhee and Asheville) as well as online. We also offer multiple MS and Doctoral programs. WCU's main campus (Cullowhee) is situated in the BlueRidge Mountains not far from Great Smoky Mountains National Park. It has a mission to serve the region, particularly in terms of workforce development, and the School of Nursing is known to be an excellent partner in increasing the number of RN and graduate level trained nurses.
Additional Information
This position is grant-funded and will last for the length of the grant (up to four years).

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree and experience in a higher education setting preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Adobe.
