Position Description

South Dakota Mines is seeking a Testing Center and Success Advisor to be part of the Student Success Administrative team. This is a full-time, 12-month, benefited position. The Testing Center and Success Advisor will successfully manage all operations of the campus Testing Center, as well as act as a professional advisor for first-year students. Operations of the testing center include administration and scheduling of exams, training and supervision of proctors, and assisting with designated budget planning and monitoring of expenditures and inventory. In addition, the Testing Center and Success Advisor will also provide professional advisement and academic support to first year students, including monitoring academic activities and students’ academic progress, coordinating and conducting advising sessions with students, and providing referrals to campus entities for student academic support. This position assists the SSC team with Rocker Ready orientation and other student onboarding and retention efforts. A bachelor’s degree is required along with 1 to 3 years of related experience; a master’s degree is preferred. Candidates should have interest in education, higher education, student services, advising/mentoring, or related fields. Knowledge of correct testing procedures, planning and scheduling techniques, and educational development test administration and interpretation preferred. The position also requires some travel, a valid driver’s license, and occasional irregular work hours a few times per month.
