Position Description
Provides academic advising services and transfer advising services to Santa Fe Community College students interested in transferring to Western New Mexico University and all other New Mexico state colleges. Actively participates in and contributes to continuous quality improvement. Implements recruitment strategies designed to attract targeted students to attend the University and provides academic advisement and intervention to facilitate transfer for prospective and current students of Western New Mexico University and all other New Mexico State colleges. This is term position that continuation is contingent upon continuation of the program and funding. Must be committed to serving a diverse college community
Duties
Assists with and offers workshops to students; participates in professional development. Ensures that students are familiar with the college catalog and other relevant advisement information. Manages a case load of students including follow-up contact and necessary intervention as needed Processes transfer credit evaluations; prepares degree audits and supports college transfer efforts. Provides students with college admission, registration, academic program and transfer information; communicates general policy information and available services to students. Provides walk-in advisement, transfer advisement services and assists students with the enrollment management processes. Provides referral information on financial aid, counseling services, and other related college resources. Reviews and updates student information in the BANNER system as appropriate. Serves as liaison to instructional departments; facilitates student referrals to appropriate school advisor or faculty advisor. Writes letters of recommendation, scholarships letters, and other school-related correspondence for students. Works with specialized populations to provide academic advising and program support as needed. Works with career counselors to assist students in transition to careers. Performs related duties as assigned.
